Miles Norris will make his commitment tomorrow, Gonzaga among finalists

The highly touted recruit from Southern California is an ESPN Top 60 talent and a top member of the 2018 class.

According to a recent report from ESPN Recruiting Insider Jeff Borzello, 2018 forward Niles Morris will announce his commitment on May 10, and Gonzaga is included in his list of finalists.

Norris is a top-rated recruit in the 2018 class with a lot of upside. The Southern California native has ideal length and athleticism for his size (6’10”), and possesses a nice shooting stroke that extends his range out to the high school three-point line. While the upside is definitely there, Norris does need to keep working on his body to gain weight and improve his strength in order to play through contact at the collegiate level.

The Zags reportedly extended Norris a scholarship offer last summer, though there hasn’t been much publicized contact between the two parties since. In a recent interview with California Preps, Norris revealed that Arizona and Oregon are the two schools with whom he’s had the most contact recently and most recruiting publications lean toward Norris selecting one of those two Pac-12 programs.

If Norris isn’t leaning towards the Pac-12, Gonzaga has plenty of room to add him with five open scholarships for the 18-19 season and no commits as of yet for that class. As currently constituted, the Zags would field a frontcourt rotation in the fall of Norris’ freshman year that could feature Killian Tillie, Jacob Larsen, Rui Hachimura, and Corey Kispert. We’ll find out soon enough whether Norris will be joining that group.
