Gonzaga moves up to No. 15 in latest AP Poll

A week of upward trajectory.

The Gonzaga Bulldogs closed out the regular season as the WCC Champions and were rewarded with a top 15 ranking by AP voters in the latest AP Poll.

In a poll with plenty of significant markings, here we go:

  • South Carolina has been ranked No. 1 for 36 weeks in a row, tied with Louisiana Tech for the second-longest streak in history. They’ll need a whole other season to equal the best—UConn (51 weeks).
  • Utah landed at No. 3, the highest ranking in school history.
  • Gonzaga is just one of four programs to have both their men’s and women’s squads ranked in the top 15, alongside Indiana, Texas, and UConn.

Indiana remained the No. 2 team in the nation despite losing to Iowa on the road. In reality, no team should be heavily punished for losing to an absurd buzzer-beater like this:

With WCC play concluded, the Zags have a week off until the semifinals on March 6.
