The long dark offseason continues, but at least we have some Gonzaga-related basketball on the near horizon as the NBA Summer League kicks off tonight.
The Gonzaga Bulldogs have a sizeable chunk of players, from this year’s draft picks to other alums looking to carve out their spot in the NBA.
Joel Ayayi, Killian Tillie, Johnathan Williams, and Zach Norvell will all make their first summer league appearances before the actual league kicks off. Ayayi, who signed a two-way contract with the Los Angeles Lakers will see playing time against Johnathan Williams and the Saramento Kings, who play tonight and tomorrow in the California Classic.
Elsewhere, the Utah Jazz field two different teams, and they will take on Killian Tillie and the Memphis Grizzlies and Zach Norvell’s San Antonio Spurs during the three-day Salt Lake Summer League.
The rest of the Summer League begins on Sunday, August 7. Those games will also feature Corey Kispert with the Washington Wizards, Filip Petrusev with the Philadelphia 76ers, and Jalen Suggs with the Orlando Magic.
