The Washington Wizards drafted Gonzaga Bulldogs sharpshooter Corey Kispert with the No. 15 pick of the 2021 NBA Draft. Kispert becomes the second Gonzaga player drafted this evening, following Jalen Suggs at No. 5.

Earning comparisons to Joe Harris, scouts considered Corey Kispert one of the best shooters in the draft. That was specifically on display this past season in which Kispert shot 62.8 percent from two, 44 percent from three, and 87.8 percent from the free throw line. Kispert had the highest true shooting percentage in the NCAA last season among players who attempted at least 12 field goals per game.

Although there are questions about how well he will be able to keep up with NBA players on the defensive end, Kispert’s ability to shoot the ball will earn him time on the court. Now, he will reunite with former Gonzaga teammate Rui Hachimura to help provide shooting for a Washington Wizards team that just traded Russell Westbrook earlier today.

Last season, the Wizards ranked No. 28 in made threes and No. 22 in three-point percentage. Kispert will immediately provide a boost to the Wizards shooting.
