In recent years, the NBA Draft has gone from occasional viewing from the Gonzaga standpoint to must-see TV. This season, it will be a night to remember for the Gonzaga history books.
From 2002-2013, Gonzaga sent seven players into the NBA. From 2016-2019, the frequency increased, with a total of five players making it in, highlighted by the 2017 and 2019 drafts in which two Zags were picked.
This year, with Corey Kispert, Jalen Suggs, and Joel Ayayi all roundly expected to be chosen in the NBA Draft, we should see a record-setting night for the Gonzaga Bulldogs. Add in former Zag Filip Petrusev into the mix, and there will be plenty of NBA to follow in the coming years.
You’ll want to tune in early and stick around until the very end. Jalen Suggs should be one of the first five picks in the draft and might have a chance to set a new school record, besting Adam Morrison’s No. 3 pick. Corey Kispert has generated some lottery pick chatter as well, and Joel Ayayi’s name has cropped up in the second round.
