According to Jeff Borzello, Mark Few and the Gonzaga Bulldogs are hiring former Gonzaga walk-on and Director of Operations Stephen Gentry as an assistant coach. Gentry was a walk-on in 2002-06 and worked on the staff in 2017-19.

After graduating, Genty worked with the Texas A&M, Stephen F. Austin, and Oklahome State basketball programs in a variety of roles. He returned to Gonzaga for a couple of years before joining the Illinois Fighting Illini as an assistant coach.
Gentry has big shoes to fill after long-time assistant coach and Mark Few’s heir-in-waiting Tommy Lloyd departed to become the head coach at the University of Arizona this offseason.
In two years with Illinois, Gentry helped revamp an offense that was ranked No. 86 by KenPom in 2018 to No. 8 this season.
On the surface, all in all, a good hire for Gonzaga. Gentry is within the family and has established solid coaching credentials since he began his post walk-on career.
