Gonzaga Bulldog’s senior winger Corey Kispert was named one of four finalists for the Naismith Player of the Year. He joins Cade Cunningham (Oklahoma State), Ayo Dosunmu (Illinois), and Luke Garza (Iowa).
Corey Kispert’s evolution from a clean cut freshman averaging 6.7 points to a hair-flowing and headband wearing senior averaging 19.2 points has been well documented by everyone this season. He flirted with the NBA last season, ultimately coming back for his senior season and showcasing one of the more impressive leaps in college basketball.
Kispert’s shooting numbers have been off the charts and he is roundly considered one of the more dangerous shooters in college hoops, one of the biggest reasons he is considered a potential lottery pick in the NBA Draft, despite the fact he is a senior.
We can list all the ways that Kispert is deserving of the most prestigious award in college hoops, but so can all the other finalists on the list.
