Gonzaga Bulldogs seniors Jenn Wirth and Jill Townsend were named Honorable Mention Associated Press All-Americans today, the first season in Gonzaga history two players have appeared on the list.
Wirth and Townsend are the fifth and sixth Zags to earn AP All-American honors, following in the footsteps of Shannon Mathews (2005), Stephanie Hawk (2007), and Courtney Vandersloot (2009, 2010, 2011), all of whom were also named honorable mentions.
Wirth was also named the West Coast Conference Player of the Year, ranking second in the team at 12.8 points per game and third in the WCC with 8.2 rebounds per game, and became the 19th player in history to grab 600 rebounds and the 25th player to surpass 1,000 career points.
Townsend was the 2020 WCC Player of the Year and led the Zags at 13.4 points per game. She also hit the buzzer beater against BYU in the WCC Tournament Championship game, one of the most exciting shots in Gonzaga history.
