The West Coast Conference has done a bit of rescheduling and the Gonzaga Bulldogs will now play the Pacific Tigers on Thursday, in Stockton.
The Zags were originally scheduled to play LMU and Santa Clara on this week, but both of those programs are currently on pause due to COVID-19 protocols.
When the week opened up, the scheduling train left the station. This week has been a week of wishing for high-profile opponents with near misses in the scheduling. One opponent many hoped for were the No. 5 Houston Tigers, who did not have a game scheduled for Saturday. Unfortunately, the two teams could not make it work.
No. 1 Gonzaga and No. 5 Houston were deep into negotiations to play a neutral-site game this weekend in Salt Lake City, a source tells CBS Sports, but it fell through this morning. Game will not be happening barring an 11th-hour change of heart. Teams are a combined 32-1.

Then, the Villanova Wildcats appeared as a hot addition after their game against Xavier on Sunday was cancelled due to COVID-19. The Wildcats instead reconfigured their Big East schedule to play Georgetown.
Ultimately, it is a bit of a disappointment, but it is what we have to live with in this absolutely wacky season of college basketball.
