While the Baylor Bears remain on pause, the Gonzaga Bulldogs are slowly inching their way towards being the unanimous No. 1 team in all of college basketball.
After a couple of absolutely dominating WCC contests, the Zags secured yet another first-place vote, with Baylor snaring the elusive remaining four. The Zags have been No. 1 all year, but have yet to capture all first-place votes, topping out at 63 of 64.
There was a bit of chaos in the top 25 this season thanks to the Houston Cougars and the Virginia Cavaliers. The Cougars lost their second game in five contests, a surprising upset by Wichita State. Virginia’s drop was came on the heels of back-to-back losses against a good Florida State team and a not good Duke Blue Devils squad.
Other than that, it was a relatively quiet week in the realm of the heavyweights. After opening conference play at 6-5, the Kansas Jayhawks have quietly rattled off five-straight wins (three of them coming at the hands of the not good Iowa State and Kansas State teams). They finish Big 12 play against Texas and Baylor. Good luck Kansas.
Here is the full AP Poll for the week.
