The Gonzaga Bulldogs secured the WCC crown in their win over the Saint Mary’s Gaels on Thursday. Tonight, they look to build off their past two impressive wins against the San Diego Toreros.
USD is coming off a win as well, only their third of their COVID-shortened season. San Diego has played a total of only 10 games so far because of the pandemic.
The Zags, meanwhile, have won 18-straight games by double digits, and a big win today would tie the longest streak in a season by an AP No. 1 team, last set by the UNLV Runnin Rebels in 1990-91.
Do they have a good chance of accomplishing that feat? Most likely yes. Don’t tell anyone that the home court advantage is a bit muted this year. Because so far this season, in conference play, Gonzaga has been on a rampage.
Here's a midnight stat for you, the Zags have played nine games at home so far this season. In those 360 minutes of play, GU has trailed for a total of 50 seconds. (USF for 16 seconds and Pepperdine for 34 seconds)— Barry Henderson (@hendersonb_GU) February 19, 2021
