Zags Rise One Spot to No. 16

And a new top team in the poll.

On the heels of two more strong WCC victories, the Gonzaga Bulldogs rose one spot in the latest AP Poll to No. 16.

The big news of the poll is the return of the Connecticut Huskies to the top spot. This is the ninth-straight season the Huskies have reached the top of the AP Poll, and they did so in dramatic fashion. The Huskies defeated the then No. 1 South Carolina Gamecocks in overtime to reclaim the top spot.

It is the third-consecutive week there has been a different No. 1 team.

For Gonzaga, as long as they win, they should slowly rise up. This week features their biggest test of the season: a road game against the BYU Cougars. That is the only real possibility for a loss (that is rationale) for the rest of the conference slate.

The Zags finish out the season playing USD, Pepperdine, and LMU.

Here is the full poll for the week.
