Gonzaga Increases First-place Votes in Latest AP Poll

Still on top.

NCAA Basketball: Gonzaga at Brigham Young Jeffrey Swinger-USA TODAY Sports

No surprises here, the Gonzaga Bulldogs are still the top team in the nation. The Baylor Bears are still the second-best team, followed by Michigan and Ohio State.

Illinois rose into the top five, taking over for Villanova, who fell to Creighton on Saturday. There were still a few intense movers and shakers, notably the Texas Tech Red Raiders, who dropped from No. 7 to No. 15, and the Missouri Tigers, who dropped 10 sports down to No. 20.

There were also some notably entries back into the ring of the elite, most specifically the Kansas Jayhawks. The Jayhawks dropped out of the AP Top 25 last week, ending their record streak of 231 consecutive weeks of being ranked.

For the Zags, their wins over BYU and San Francisco were enough to siphon a few first-place votes from Baylor, who remains on pause due to COVID-19 protocols.
