Gonzaga Bulldogs uber freshman Chet Holmgren is on the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award watchlist. He joins fellow teammates Drew Timme, Hunter Sallis, and Andrew Nembhard in nominations for the positional awards.
Holmgren enters Gonzaga as the top prospect in the Class of 2021 and the first No. 1 prospect in school history. He is bouncing around as a top pick or very near the top for the 2022 NBA Draft. The 7’0 unicorn human being will be a key piece of Gonzaga’s run in March.
Holmgren averaged 21 points and 12.3 rebounds per game his senior season. He was named the Gatorade National Player of the Year, among many other national awards he received last season. Paired with Drew Timme, he gives the Zags essentially an unguardable frontcourt that is largely expected to be one of the best in the nation.
