Gonzaga Bulldogs forward Drew Timme has been named to the Karl Malone Award watch list. Drew Timme won the award last season as a sophomore.
Timme averaged 19 points and seven rebounds per game last season. He was a consensus second-team All-American and the KenPom Player of the Year. This season, with the departure of Luke Garza, Timme is widely cited as one of the best players in college basketball, an All-American, and someone who very well could be the best player in college hoops.
Paired with Chet Holmgren in the frontcourt is one of the big reasons the Zags are one of the top preseason teams in the nation and one of the favorites to make the Final Four, and potentially, the NCAA Tournament.
Timme joins his fellow teammates in Andrew Nembhard and Hunter Sallis in receiving the preseason awards. Potentially, Holmgren will join the list tomorrow.
