It didn’t take long for Joel Ayayi to find a new home as the Washington Wizards have claimed the former Gonzaga guard off of waivers on a two-way contract.

Ayayi went undrafted this year and subsequently signed a two-way contract with the Los Angeles Lakers. After a rough Summer League, the Lakers waived Ayayi on Friday. He will now be joining former teammates Corey Kispert and Rui Hachimura on the most Gonzaga-laden team in the NBA.
How much playing time Ayayi can carve out remains to be seen. The Wizards have a glut of guards (six to be exact), which means Ayayi will most likely spend a majority of his playing time with the Wizards G League team, the Capital City Go-Go. Ayayi is a talented guard, as everyone in Gonzaga nation knowns, and hopefully this opportunity will allow him to demonstrate some of those skills as a stepping stone into the NBA.
