The Gonzaga Bulldogs are the No. 21 team in the nation, rising two spots in the latest AP Poll.

Gonzaga opened the season ranked No. 21 in the preseason poll, peaking at No. 18 after a strong performance to open the season. A loss to South Dakota State sent the Zags nearly tumbling out of the polls to No. 25, and since then it has been a slow climb back up the rankings.

Which, as long as Gonzaga keeps on winning, they will do. The Zags have since rattled off seven-straight wins after opening the season 1-2, most recently putting on a clinical display in a 69-37 win over the Saint Mary’s Gaels. After opening the conference with a narrow 65-62 win over LMU, Gonzaga has settled into a more familiar groove: crushing defense and enough offense win by a decent amount.

The Zags will face a test this week against Portland, who has opened WCC play at 2-0. Gonzaga also plays Pacific tonight.

Here is the full AP Poll.
