The Gonzaga Bulldogs are one first-place vote away from being the undisputed No. 1 team in the country according to the latest AP Poll. Last week, Baylor received two first-place votes. This week it was only one.
Elsewhere around the poll there was plenty of movement. Iowa launched back into the top 5 after notching solid wins over both Northwestern and Rutgers. Houston dropped from No. 5 to No. 11 after its disappointing road loss to Tulsa on Tuesday.
BYU also garnered 18 votes this week. The Cougars finished out an impressive run on their non-conference slate, getting a road win at San Diego State and a home win over Utah. BYU’s first WCC game was cancelled due to COVID.
Whether or not the Zags are able to get that elusive final first-place vote remains to be seen, since the AP voter choosing Baylor has done so all year. Baylor is scheduled to play Oklahoma and TCU this week, while Gonzaga will face off against Santa Clara and Portland.
