The Gonzaga Bulldogs are currently three for three in mid-season watch list award recognition, with Corey Kispert landing the honors for the Julius Erving Award. The award goes out to the best shooting forward in college basketball each year.
Out of all the awards listed so far, this seems to be the one to safely say it is Gonzaga’s to lose. Kispert has taken a huge leap this year in terms of production, helping lead the Zags to their undefeated record and launching himself into NBA Draft Lottery chatter.
Kispert is averaging 20.6 points and 4.98 rebounds per game, while shooting an astonishing 49 percent from three and 67.7 percent from two. This is the sort of year the Gonzaga senior is enjoying.
Corey Kispert is the only player in the last 18 years to make at least 3 triples a game while shooting over 55% from the field.— Evan Miyakawa (@evanmiya) January 27, 2021
He's making 3.1 threes per game, while making an elite 58% of his shots.

If he wins, Kispert would be the second Gonzaga player to put the award on the fireplace mantle, joining incredibly well-known small forward Rui Hachimura, who won in 2019.
