Gonzaga Rises to No. 18 in Latest AP Top 25

Moving up after a couple of weeks of hanging steady.

The Gonzaga Bulldogs finally got a bit of movement in the AP Poll, rising up two spots to No. 18 in the latest AP Poll.

The Zags originally rolled into last week with a postponed game against San Diego and a highly anticipated matchup against the BYU Cougars. The latter game was also postponed due to COVID protocols within the Cougars’ program. The WCC pivoted and sent Gonzaga down for an early meeting against the Portland Pilots.

The final score of 79-61 is a bit closer than the game ever felt. It was the first time since conference play began against LMU that the Zags have given up more than 60 points and it was their fifth-consecutive game of scoring more than 70 points.

With both the offense and defense finally clicking in-sync, the Zags are a formidable squad, and the latest AP Poll reflects that. Gonzaga has two games this week against Pacific (Thursday) and Saint Mary’s (Saturday).
