The Gonzaga Bulldogs open up conference play against the San Francisco Dons with the only WCC game of the evening.
All four other men’s basketball WCC contests on Saturday have been postponed due to COVID, leaving the Zags and the Dons as the lone representatives of WCC basketball.
The Zags have won 31-straight in Spokane against San Francisco. The Dons last win in the series came in a 66-65 win in 2012.
Chatter of Gonzaga going undefeated has started already, and with good reason. The Zags have been a dominant No. 1 team, and this is just the second time in school history that Gonzaga has gone into conference play with an undefeated record. The last team to accomplish that feat was, of course, the 2017 Final Four squad.
Joining that 2017 squad and the 2013 “first No. 1 seed in school history” team, this year’s Bulldogs are the third team in school history to open a season with a 9-0 record.
