Gonzaga Bulldogs sophomore center Filip Petrusev was named one of five finalists for the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award, which goes out to the best center in college. Killian Tillie and Corey Kispert were nominated for the corresponding awards at power forward and small forward, respectively.

Petrusev has steep competition for the award, facing off against Vernon Carey Jr. of Duke, Luka Garza of Iowa, Uodka Azubuike of Kansas, and Nathan Knight of William & Mary.

On the season, Petrusev is the highest scorer on the nation’s top offense. His usage rates are top 50 in the country. He draws 7.8 fouls per game, the third-highest mark in the country. He is averaging 17.8 points and 7.8 rebounds per game.

If he wins, Petrusev would be the second Zag to take home the award. Prezemek Karnowski last won the award in 2017.

The winners of the 2020 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award will be announced with the other awards at The College Basketball Awards, on April 10.
