AP Top 25 Poll: Gonzaga Moves Up to No. 2

A loss by the Baylor Bears opened the door.

The Gonzaga Bulldogs are back at the familiar ranking of No. 2 in the latest AP Poll, climbing one spot after the Baylor Bears lost last week.

Gonzaga has now spent a total of seven weeks at the No. 2 ranking (on three different occasions this season). The Zags dropped down to No. 3 after their loss to BYU. This week, it was time for the Bears to stumble, and they dropped two spots down to No. 4. The Dayton Flyers moved up to No. 3 and the San Diego State Aztecs held at No. 5 to round out the top 5.

Elsewhere around the polls, the BYU Cougars moved up two spots to No. 15, setting up a potential top 15 matchup in the WCC Tournament Championship (assuming Saint Mary’s doesn’t ruin the day).

Due to the WCC Tournament scheduling, Gonzaga will most likely stay at No. 2 until next week. As one of the top two seeds in the tournament, the Zags get a bye until Monday, March 9.

Here is the full poll for the week.
