Gonzaga Bulldogs sophomore center Filip Petrusev is one of 10 players named to the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award late season list. He joins Killian Tillie and Corey Kispert, who each were named to the Karl Malone Award and Julius Erving Award late seasons lists, respectively.
Petrusev leads the Zags with 17.2 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. After seeing a time sparingly last season, he has been the main offensive focal point for the Zags, leading the team in possessions and usage.
He is one of the best post players at drawing contact, a skill on display in last night’s game against LMU that saw Petrusev earn 11 of his 11 of his 21 points at the charity stripe. On the season, he ranks the fifth-highest in the country with 7.8 fouls drawn per 40 minutes.
Petrusev has appeared on some NBA Draft boards this season, but still needs to showcase a bit more dedication on the defensive end to make an impact on the next level. That said, his offensive game is thoroughly polished, and his inclusion on the list shows the nation has taken notice.
Here are the 10 players on the late season list:
- Vernon Carey Jr. - Duke
- Omer Yurtseven - Georgetown

- Luke Garza - Iowa
- Udoka Azubuike - Kansas
- Daniel Oturu - Minnesota
