College Basketball Rankings: Gonzaga Remains No. 2 in Latest AP Poll

They lost a few votes, however.

NCAA Basketball: Gonzaga at San Francisco Darren Yamashita-USA TODAY Sports

The Gonzaga Bulldogs remained the No. 2 team in the nation, according to the latest AP Poll.

Baylor’s slow stranglehold on the top spot increased this week. Gonzaga went from 19 first-place votes to 15, most likely reflecting the closer WCC contests from last week. Last week, Gonzaga defeated Santa Clara by 15 points and played a narrow contest against San Francisco.

Baylor, meanwhile, had few issues against Kansas State and Oklahoma State. Considering the competitive unbalance between the Big 12 and the WCC, until Baylor loses, Gonzaga will not be reclaiming that top spot.

With Killian Tillie injured again, times are potentially fraught for the Gonzaga Bulldogs in the AP rankings. If the Zags lose to anyone outside of BYU or Saint Mary’s, you can probably expect a steep drop in the rankings. Unfortunately, such is the life in the WCC.
