AP Top 25: Gonzaga Still Top Dogs

Undefeated!

NCAA Basketball: Jimmy V Classic-West Virginia at Gonzaga Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

The Gonzaga Bulldogs are the No. 1 team in the nation for the third-straight week according to the latest AP Poll. The Baylor Bears and the Iowa Hawkeyes round out same top three from last week.

Elsewhere around the poll, former San Francisco head coach and current Washington State Cougars head coach is making waves, earning three points. That is a full three more points than the Kentucky Wildcats, who completely dropped out of the top 25 after starting the preseason ranked No. 8.

In the ultimate sign of respect, the No. 11 West Virginia Mountaineers stayed the No. 11 West Virginia Mountaineers after losing to Gonzaga on Wednesday.

Gonzaga, of course, will stay the No. 1 team in the nation for a bit of time unless Baylor beats Texas 100-20 on Dec. 13. The Zags have paused all competitions through Dec. 14 due to COVID-19 cases on the team, and the next game isn’t until Dec. 19 against No. 3 Iowa.

Here is the full AP Poll for Week 3.
