After losing two weeks of Gonzaga Bulldogs basketball to that pesky COVID-19 situation, we are getting a ton of makeup games in a week’s worth of time. The Zags will play the Northwestern State Demons for the first of two-straight games in two days.
The Zags are coming off of a convincing win over the No. 3 Iowa Hawkeyes in South Dakota. However, after not playing for two weeks, there was a bit of rust in the wheels. With another big game against Virginia coming up this coming Saturday, these two games against the Demons provide some ample opportunity to get some concrete minutes for many of the players on the bench.
Considering between the talented likes of Pavel Zakharov, Dominick Harris, Julian Strawther, and Martynas Arlauskas you only have a combined 16 minutes of play this season, that in-game experience will be a treat. Gonzaga lost a majority of its tune up games during the two week shutdown, so it is kudos to the Northwestern State Demons for making their lives harder by playing a total of three games in three days (twice against Gonzaga in Spokane, down to Pullman against Washington State).
