Sabonis is the second Gonzaga product to ever receive the honor. The first, of course, is the great John Stockton, who was named an All Star 10 times throughout his career.
Sabonis, who played at Gonzaga from 2014-2016, was drafted in 2016 with the No. 11 pick. He was immediately traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder, and basically floundered in his rookie season. Sabonis was traded to the Indiana Pacers, and has flourished in his past three seasons.
After coming in second in the Sixth Man of the Year Award last season, Sabonis has truend it up this season. He has started in all 45 games for the Pacers, averaging 18 points, 12.8 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game. He has also registered two triple-doubles this season. He is sixth in the NBA in offensive rebounds, fifth in defensive rebounds, and fourth in total rebounds.
