Gonzaga Rises to No. 12 in Latest AP Poll

It is a very close race.

NCAA Womens Basketball: West Coast Conference Tournament-Gonzaga vs Saint Mary’s Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

The Gonzaga Bulldogs are the new No. 12 team in the country, rising one spot in the latest AP Poll.

The Zags took care of business, like they have done all season, last week, beating Pepperdine by 34 points and LMU by 26. The Zags face both San Diego and BYU this week, but will have to monitor injuries to LeeAnne Wirth and Kayleigh Truong.

Overall, there was a decent bit of movement in the latest AP Poll. The Oregon Ducks rose from No. 4 to No. 3 after beating then No. 7 Oregon State TWICE in 48 hours, it what can only be the most lunatic scheduling decision possible (surprise surprise, this is coming from the Pac 12).

For Gonzaga, who spent so long lounging at the lower teens this season, their move up the charts has been fast, but close. Gonzaga is a mere two points ahead of No. 13 Kentucky, and a mere three points ahead of No. 14 Florida State. Depending on who has the best week, seemingly, those three teams can fluctuate at will.

Here is the full AP Poll for the week.
