Incoming Gonzaga Bulldogs forward and Gonzaga Prep graduate Anton Watson is one of 18 finalists for the USA Basketball U19 roster, Jonathan Givony reported on Tuesday.

The roster will eventually be trimmed down to a 12-man roster, and will depart for Greece on June 24. Watson was invited to the U18 training camp last year, survived the first round of cuts, but ultimately did not make the final roster.
It would be excellent if Watson made the cut in terms of having some summer basketball to watch, but you might recognize Jalen Suggs as one of his potential teammates. Suggs is the No. 10 ranked recruit by 247 Sports in the Class of 2020. Having Watson in his ear about the perks of Gonzaga can only be a good thing.
If Watson makes the cut, he will potentially join many of his international teammates, who will be trying to make the rosters for their respective countries, Joel Ayayi (France), Filip Petrusev (Serbia), Martynas Arlauskas (Lithuania), and Pavel Zakharov (Russia).
The FIBA U19 World Cup takes place in Crete, from June 29 to July 7.
