Right off the bat, one might be asking, where is Rui Hachimura? That is a fair question to ask. Often times, players that are dead set on the NBA, and have hired agents, turn down their invitation to the combine, electing to workout for teams in private. If you remember back in 2016, Domantas Sabonis turned down his invitation as well.
What makes his all a bit more confusing is that this is being broadcast as the official invite list, so no Rui on this list makes it sound like he wasn’t invited. Rui not being invited, in general, is a scenario that makes no sense whatsoever, so we will have to see what is going on in the future.
Either way, on that front, and on the front for Tillie and Norvell, the combine will be something to follow for Gonzaga fans. Hachimura and Clarke are widely considered first round picks by virtually every human on the planet. The story is a bit different for Tillie and Norvell, although signs seem to point towards the both taking an early exit for college as well.
Rui Update #1: Perhaps he declined before he was even invited?
FWIW, Gonzaga forward Rui Hachimura not being on this list is not a mistake. A source tells me he’s not going to the combine. Will follow up with more when I get it.
