South Dakota State sophomore guard and transfer target David Jenkins Jr. will be visiting Gonzaga on May 4, Jeff Goodman announced yesterday.

Goodman ranks Jenkins as the second-best transfer on the market. If he arrived at Gonzaga, he would sit for one year and have two years of remaining eligibility.

Jenkins averaged 19.7 points per game for South Dakota State last season, shooting 45 percent from long range. He is a dynamic and gifted scorer who would help out immediately in any offense, although his defensive rating of 107 would have placed dead last on Gonzaga’s squad last year.

The Zags are competing with Oregon, UCLA, UNLV, and Memphis for his services. There will be plenty of room for Jenkins to operate if he came to Gonzaga to start in 2020. The 2020 squad will feature Greg Foster, Joel Ayayi, Brock Ravet, and Dominick Harris as the entire backcourt. Jenkins would help provide some much needed experience.
