Josh Perkins named finalist for Bob Cousy Award

He is one of five in the running.

NCAA Basketball: Gonzaga at Pacific Neville E. Guard-USA TODAY Sports

Gonzaga Bulldogs senior point guard Josh Perkins is one of the five finalists for the Bob Cousy Award. The award goes out to the top point guard in college basketball.

Perkins stands tall and proud alongside Tremont Waters from LSU, Markus Howard from Marquette, Cassius Winston from Michigan State, and Ja Morant from Murray State.

Perkins is enjoying a career year in terms of assists, having already bested Gonzaga’s all-time mark set by Matt Santangelo, and his 205 current assists this season is second to Santangelo’s 225 in 2000.

On the season, Perkins is averaging 6.5 assists, well behind Morant’s 10.3 per game. Perkins, however, is the floor general for the top offense in the country and the No. 1 team in the nation. You could easily make a case for any of the five players to win the award.

The Bob Cousy Award is determined by a combination of fan voting and input from a selection committee.
