Bi-Weekly Roundup of Zags in the NBA

A Pre-Game Read Before Saint Mary’s Battles It out with Gonzaga Tonight

Sorry I haven’t been keeping up with these posts on a weekly basis. I have been busy with senior year activities. Can’t believe it’s only 92 days until I graduate from Gonzaga. Quite the scary thought. Anyways...

January 27 - February 8

Domantas Sabonis, Indiana Pacers: 14.2 PPG, 9.2 RPG, 2.7 APG through 53 games

Domas recorded a double-double (his first since January 19th) in a 109-107 win over New Orleans last Monday. He scored 16 points & grabbed 13 rebounds in 23 minutes off the bench. The Lithuanian big man shot 7-9 from the field as well.

Next Game - Cavaliers @ Pacers on Saturday, February 9 @ 7:00 PM ET

Zach Collins, Portland Trail Blazers: 6.9 PPG, 4.2 RPG, 0.8 BPG through 54 games

Collins’ season has been quite strange. His minutes really fluctuate all over the place. For example, he played 23 minutes in a 132-105 win over the Jazz while finishing with 12 points and 9 rebounds. The next two games, he played a combined 15 minutes against the Heat and the Spurs while coming up with a goose egg in points for both of those games.

Next Game - Trail Blazers @ Mavericks on Sunday, February 9th @ 3:00 PM ET

Kelly Olynyk, Miami Heat: 9.1 PPG, 4.3 RPG, 1.7 APG through 50 games

I heard some rumors that Kelly was on the trading block but with the NBA Trade Deadline being this past Thursday, it looks like the big 7-footer will be staying warm in South Beach. The Heat are playing against the two-time defending champions tomorrow so make sure to tune into that one. I know I will.

Next Game - Heat @ Warriors on Sunday, February 10th @ 8:30 PM ET on NBATV

Johnathan Williams, South Bay Lakers: 15.1 PPG, 8.9 RPG, 1.1 BPG, 1.7 APG, 52.6 FG% through 26 starts in 31 games played

With Ivica Zubac and Michael Beasley (who was immediately waived) being traded to the Clippers for Mike Muscala, JW3 might be called back up to “The Association” sooner rather than later. The remaining big men on the Lakers roster include Javale McGee, Tyson Chandler, and Moritz Wagner.
