The Zags had a fantastic week, demolishing San Francisco at home on Thursday and following that up with a 40 minute clinic against Saint Mary’s, two of the other top teams in the WCC.

Of course, at this point in the year, the only way teams move up is by the fates of other squads. Virginia’s loss to Duke at home was apparently enough of a punishment for the Zags to squeak up. One can argue that losing to a top 5 squad in a slightly competitive manner shouldn’t warrant a drop at all, but that argument will not be coming from a blog as biased as ours. Go Gonzaga. Drop Virginia all the way down.

We probably won’t see much more movement from Gonzaga the rest of the season barring huge slip-ups by Tennessee or Duke. Gonzaga’s schedule doesn’t have the star power for it, and the remaining games against BYU and Saint Mary’s happen on different weeks.
