The Gonzaga Bulldogs and Washington Huskies battle today for the right to declare themselves the yearly champion of the state of Washington this afternoon with a road contest in Seattle.

The two teams sit in similar situations on the year. Both squads are incredibly talented, laden with exciting young players, and that means both squads haven’t played too much together as one unit. Last year, of course, the Huskies rolled into Spokane and almost knocked the No. 1 Zags off their perch. Thankfully, a Rui Hachimura buzzer beater said otherwise.

This year, Gonzaga’s go-to scorer of Filip Petrusev plays an old-school center game in the post. Washington’s pair of five-star freshman Isaiah Stewart and Jaden McDaniels will probably make his life a living hell. How Gonzaga responds to the size of Washington and the zone defense they bring will be the key to the game.

That and tolerating Bill Walton on the mic.
