Gonzaga Women Stay at No. 17 in Latest Poll

Some day, they will be ranked something different.

The Gonzaga Bulldogs are the No. 17 for the fourth week in a row in the latest AP top 25.

Where as the men’s side of the polling had quite a bit of movement, things stayed overwhelmingly calm on the women’s side. There was absolute no movement in the top 22 teams in the nation, with Miami and Minnesota providing the only change in the poll from the previous week.

The gap in points between Gonzaga and No. 16 DePaul increased from two to 17. Most likely, that has to do with the Gonzaga women almost losing in the first WCC game of the season. The Zags overcame a 20 point deficit to knock off the Portland Pilots at home and continue the streak of being at No. 17.

This week provides a good opportunity for some movement. The Zags open WCC play with a rather difficult schedule, playing at BYU on Thursday at at home against Saint Mary’s on Jan. 9. Those are the two other top teams in the league, and a win against BYU might help the Zags move up a spot.

Here is the full poll.
