Gonzaga Rises to No. 18 in Latest AP Poll

A solid show in the Gulf Coast Showcase.

The Gonzaga Bulldogs are the new No. 18 team in the latest women’s basketball AP Poll, after a strong showing at the Gulf Coast Showcase over the holiday.

The Zags have been on an absolute roll since narrowly losing in overtime, on the road, to the now No. 1 Stanford Cardinal on Nov. 17. Gonzaga has won four straight games, all by double figures, including wins over Purdue, Middle Tennessee, and Dayton, during the holiday showcase.

Oregon’s loss to Louisville set the stage for the Cardinal to reclaim a once-familiar spot on top of the rankings, with Stanford garnering 23 first-place votes.

Gonzaga’s non-conference tour of the United States continues this week. Gonzaga has five games remaining before WCC play begins and three of those are on the road, starting on Thursday against Montana State. The Zags also play at Washington State on Sunday.
