College Basketball Rankings: Gonzaga Now Ranked No. 2 in Latest AP Poll

Hello world.

NCAA Basketball: Gonzaga at Arizona Jacob Snow-USA TODAY Sports

The Gonzaga Bulldogs rose to No. 2 in the latest AP top 25 poll in a week following a complete and total shakeup within the top 10.

Louisville, last week’s No. 1, lost to Texas Tech. Ohio State, last week’s No. 3, lost to Minnesota. Maryland, last week’s No. 4, lost to Penn State. Michigan, last week’s No. 5, lost to Illinois and Oregon. All of that set the stage for the Zags to leapfrog everyone not named Kansas, the only other top 5 team to not take a face plant.

Things might get rosier for Gonzaga in the near future as well. This week, Kansas plays one game, but it is a rather hard one—at Villanova. Gonzaga, on the flipside, will host North Carolina at home, not an easy task.

Speaking of that game, what started out as a potential preseason matchup between two top 10 teams has now lost its muster a bit. North Carolina, currently mired in a three-game losing streak, dropped out of the top 25 following its latest loss to Wofford.
