College Basketball Rankings: Turbulent Times in Top 10

Kentucky plummets, Gonzaga stands still.

NCAA Basketball: North Dakota at Gonzaga James Snook-USA TODAY Sports

The entirety of the top 10 landscape shifted in the third week of the AP Poll, except for one team, the Gonzaga Bulldogs, who remained at No. 8.

Every other single top 10 squad moved around last week, thanks to Kentucky’s surprising loss at home. The Wildcats plummeted to No. 9 and were replaced at the top by the Duke Blue Devils, who garnered 52 first-place votes.

Elsewhere around the polls for Gonzaga fans, the North Carolina Tar Heels moved up to No. 5 and Arizona continued a steady climb up to No. 14. Two future opponents trended downwards. The Washington Huskies barely held on to the poll, landing at No. 25 after their loss to Tennessee. The Saint Mary’s Gaels made an unceremonious exit from the top 25 after their loss at home to Winthrop.

At the rate the Zags are going, they probably won’t move too much until the Bad Boys Mowers Battle 4 Atlantis over the holidays. Presuming the Zags beat their first in Southern Miss, they will face off against either a No. 13 Seton Hall squad or the No. 11 Oregon Ducks.
