Let the conference onslaught begin!

The Gonzaga Bulldogs open conference play against one of their favorite punching bags, the Santa Clara Broncos.

Gonzaga has won 40 of the last 42 meetings between the two schools. Santa Clara last won a game in the series Jan. 20, 2011, and last won a game in Spokane back in 2007. Gonzaga has won 22-straight conference openers, with the last loss being to the Broncos, all the way back in 1996.

Considering that we might finally see the return of Killian Tillie and Geno Crandall, things most likely are not trending upwards for the Broncos. Jim Meehan with the Spokesman Review reported both players should be ready to play, although considering how long they’ve been out, it is probably safe to assume not many minutes are involved.

That said, Santa Clara has some exciting young players on their squad. All four players averaging double-digit scoring on the squad are underclassmen.
