College basketball rankings: Gonzaga narrowly hold at No. 4 in AP poll

Elsewhere in the top 25, quite a bit of movement.

As expected, the Gonzaga Bulldogs are still the No. 4 team in the country according to the latest AP top 25. Gonzaga played one game last week, overwhelmingly destroying Santa Clara.

AP Poll - Week 13

Others receiving votes: Auburn 85, Cincinnati 76, Washington 75, Kansas St 73, Oklahoma 41, Iowa 28, Wofford 10, Hofstra 9, TCU 7, Mississippi 7, Nebraska 6, Davidson 5, Syracuse 3, Minnesota 1.

Gonzaga owns a one-point lead over Michigan, showcasing what the voters think of the WCC competition this year. Presuming Gonzaga wins both games this week, on the road at BYU and at home against San Diego, it should provide a little bit of breathing room.

One other important thing to note in the poll: The Washington Huskies are almost a top 25 team. The Huskies own 75 votes this week thanks to a strong start in the Pac 12. Although Gonzaga fans do not need to root for Washington in any way shape or form, we wish them all the best in accruing as many wins as possible to inflate Gonzaga’s win this season.

Most likely, assuming Gonzaga does what it needs to, the Zags will remain at No. 4. Neither Virginia, Duke, nor Tennessee have any games that should cause immediate issues this week.
