It’s been a busy 24 hours for former Gonzaga standouts. Shortly after it was announced that Nigel Williams-Goss signed a multi-year deal with Olympiacos, Spanish team Unicaja Malaga announced a one-year deal with Kyle Wiltjer. The Gonzaga connections run thick in this one. Kyle Wiltjer spent the end of last season with Olympiacos in Greece, the same team that just signed NWG. Wiltjer’s new team, Unicaja Malaga, is the same team that Domantas Sabonis played for before coming to Gonzaga.
Wiltjer averaged 4.5 points on 42% three-point shooting in 24 appearances for Olympiacos last season. He played for the Houston Rockets and their D-League affiliate Rio Grande the season before.
Wiltjer was set to team up with Zach Collins for the Portland Trail Blazers NBA Summer League squad, but backed out once he signed his deal with Unicaja Malaga. Other notable players to play for Unicaja Malaga include Alex Abrines (Oklahoma City Thunder) and former number one overall pick, Ralph Sampson.
