After completing his first NBA Summer League with the Los Angeles Lakers, Johnathan Williams seems to have impressed the Lakers staff by moving on to the next step in making an NBA roster. Williams finished the Las Vegas Summer League with 4.4 PPG and 4.6 RPG in 24.6 MPG.

In the championship game of the Las Vegas Summer League against Zach Collins and the Portland Trailblazers, J3 finished with 4 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals in a 91-73 loss. It seems that was enough for Williams to grab a spot in the upcoming Lakers training camp which starts September 25th. The first preseason game for the Lakers is September 30th in San Diego at the Valley View Casino Center against the Denver Nuggets at 9:30 PM ET so mark your calendar.

Williams is blessed with the opportunity to start his NBA career by playing alongside LeBron James. Let’s hope Johnathan can continue to impress both Magic Johnson and Luke Walton while either grabbing a roster spot for the regular season, signing a two-way contract with the Lakers or joining the Lakers G-League team (the South Bay Lakers).
