The Tournament, the best thing to happen to college basketball’s offseason in history, released its bracket on Wednesday, and the Gonzaga-focused alum squad A Few Good Men landed a No. 6 seed in the West Region.
It has taken a while for the squad to come together because Kevin Pangos wedding in late July is complicating matters. Right now, Drew Barham, Matt Bouldin, Casey Calvary, Sam Dower, Steven Gray, Connor Griffin, and Blake Stepp from Gonzaga are the leading alum members. The squad also added Davonte Lacy (Washington State) and Jacob Wiley (Eastern Washington) to the mix.
A Few Good Men will have the hometown advantage in the first weekend of The Tournament. The Tournament has partnered with Hoopfest to bring a four-team pod for the weekend. The Zag focused squad will open up against Team Utah (featuring Utah alumni), and we can all pray, pray, pray, that the Gael Force wins their first round match up as well. Nothing like a Saint Mary’s alum squad trying to play in Spokane.
There are a couple of notable Gonzaga alums not playing on A Few Good Men. Jeremy Pargo, who helped the A Few Good Men reach the Super 16 the past two years is playing with the three-time defending champions Overseas Elite. Austin Daye is playing with Team Challenge ALS again.
