Watson, who hails from Gonzaga Prep, survived the first cut earlier this week, beating out other heralded Washington recruits such as Jaden McDaniel and Kevin Porter Jr.
It is a disappointing finish for Watson, but a fantastic indicator of his skill level and talent to even make it this far. Watson has had a junior year for the ages, helping lead G-Prep to a 4A state championship and an undefeated season, averaging close to 22 points and nine rebounds per game.
The fact that he then went to the cream of the crop of young recruits and more than held his own says something. Although it is disappointing today, the future will only get brighter and brighter for Watson, who rapidly is turning into the most exciting Spokane-based prospect Gonzaga has ever seen.
