There isn’t any Gonzaga basketball to watch tomorrow as the Final Four kicks off. But, you can watch some future Gonzaga Bulldogs basketball, as 2018 big man recruit Filip Petrusev is a member of Montverde Academy, who is playing in the Geico High School Nationals Championship on Saturday, March 30, at 9:00 am PT, on ESPN2, and online at WatchESPN.com.
Montverde Academy is the No. 1 ranked school in the nation, and Duke recruit R.J. Barrett gets a lion’s share of the press. Petrusev had an equally solid game today in the semifinals against Findlay Prep, scoring 21 points and adding seven rebounds.
The 6’10 center is ranked as the No. 67 best player according to 247 Sports. With the Zags losing Johnathan WIlliams up front, he will be a nice addition alongside fellow European Jacob Larsen as bench players for Killian Tilliie (presuming he stays), Rui Hachimura (presuming he stays), and Brandon Clarke.
Montverde Academy will play Fort Lauderdale Nova Southeastern University School, the No. 2 school in the nation, so this is about as high level of play as you can expect from someone in high school—and a rare chance to see an up and coming Gonzaga recruit.
