College basketball rankings: Gonzaga is a top 10 team again

The world is back to the way the world is supposed to be.

NCAA Basketball: Gonzaga at Pacific Stan Szeto-USA TODAY Sports

There was plenty of turmoil in the top 25 already, but the big news for this blog is the Gonzaga Bulldogs are back to being a top 10 team. In the latest AP poll, Gonzaga comes in at No. 9, rising three spots following Saturday’s dominant win over Saint Mary’s in Moraga.

On the other end of that equation, the Saint Mary’s Gaels fell from No. 11 to No. 15. There is still a chance that the Gaels can rise into the top 10 if enough dominos fall, but the chances are looking slim on that front.

Elsewhere, Villanova’s loss finally meant the Wildcats dropped out of the top spot. Virginia moved up from No. 2 to No. 1, and Michigan State rose from No. 4 to No. 2 to round out the top three. It is a mess up top, with four teams still receiving first place votes.

In other Gonzaga-related news, Ohio State continues to be the best win no one saw coming. The Buckeyes rose from No. 14 to No. 8 after a huge win over Purdue (and a not so huge win over Iowa).

Here is the full top 25:
