Gonzaga’s offense squares off against San Diego’s defense on Thursday night as the Zags face the Toreros for the first time this season.
The Zags have won six-straight, 17 of the last 18, and 39 of the last 42 matchups against San Diego. They are 35-5 at home, and 14-0 at McCarthey. The Zags last loss to San Diego, 69-66, in 2014 on the road.
There are a few other marks that might be celebrated with a win.
If Gonzaga wins it will be its 21st straight 20-win season, which would put them tied for second in the nation (Kansas at 28 and Duke at 21). On Saturday, Duke would most likely put Gonzaga third in the nation when they reach their 20th win this season.
Prior to the past two decades, the Zags reached 20 wins in a season eight times since 1907.
