The Gonzaga Bulldogs have a prime opportunity to snap their first losing streak in years with a game against the UT-Arlington Mavericks tonight.
Gonzaga hasn’t lost consecutive games since Feb. 20-22, 2014, in which Gonzaga dropped a contest to BYU on the road and then a close, hard-fought game to San Diego on the road. Then again, Gonzaga also hasn’t played consecutive ranked teams in quite some time either, so the losses to Tennessee and North Carolina are more of a rarity because of scheduling circumstances.
Either way, home is where the heart is, and the Zags, after a brutal travel schedule this year, can definitely use a bit of the Spokane warmth in the winter. Gonzaga has already racked up the frequent flier miles, over 8,500 so far in December. The brutal stretch of the December schedule is also complete. The Zags finish out with four games against low-level teams before entering conference play.
